Your annual gynecology appointment is important. Here’s why:
Females should start getting annual gynecology exams around the age of 15, but a pelvic exam is only necessary for teenagers if the individual or parent has a specific concern that may require one. Once the patient reaches the age of 21, a pap smear and pelvic exam are recommended.
Even without a pelvic exam, gynecological services can provide education and support for important health issues, including contraception, pregnancy planning, and menopause management.
